ToL review

The movie The Tree of Life is now showing in only 2 theaters in New York.

=)

If you are planning to see this movie, be prepared to think you were looking at a piece of artwork, for like... 15 minutes at the beginning of the movie. A series of visual images painted before the retrospective drama comes in.

There was a full house, but I wondered how many of the audience fully appreciated the movie and its credits due to its profound message. It's a relatively long movie that runs in a slow pace. It was not mind-drilling but rather sophisticated enough to make someone speechless.

ONE in TriBeCa

I have recently been to several exhibitions and auctions. This exhibition was slightly different. I asked questions, she interpreted for him when he was patiently telling me his thoughts in his language. Shaking his thick, tender hands, I felt his kindness.

5.25 books

My bookshelf is piled up with dossiers and binders instead of books. I only keep my current read on my desk, if it was not laying on my bed, so I can easily pick it and read by the window, gazing out the green and the red.

Tonight, I dug out some boxes to look for a book. To my surprise, I found five books. 2 philosophy, 2 non-fiction (autobiography) and 1 for fun.

Flipping through the pages of my philosophy books, I saw the notes I made in between lines. It was amusing to look at what I jotted down. I even laughed at the old me when I pictured myself scratching my head, trying to create an argument at that time... haha.

It is the graduating season again.
Some people are happy that school is over; other are excited to what is coming next.

Mamma day weekend

A Tassimo pop-up store created a coffee craze this mamma weekend.

Sampling delicious coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
Exchanging old coffee machine to a new one.
Getting a personalized mug
Receiving a mysterious gift (a box of mint, a travel mug or a Tassimo brewer)

It was indeed a scene!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An interesting Chinese article entitled "what is a mother" talked about the many hats a mother wears everyday. She is an alarm clock. She is a doctor. She is storyteller, and such.
I respect women, especially mothers wholeheartedly.
Her comments: Being a mother was an interesting assignment; being a woman at her age is widely discriminated. Indeed, being a mother is a lifelong challenging career.
Happy mother's day to all loving moms!
You did a superb job!
May globe
NY is commercial: a miniature of the World in Grand Central Subway Station
Since I was a child, I have been thinking of going to Europe, but I often ended up somewhere more exotic.
If I were to visit Europe, where would I like to explore to? hmm...
I grew up with a fantasy of Scotland, so Edinburgh would be one of my must-see European cities. The musical Prague, dynamic Amsterdam, chic Berlin or green Copenhagen are on my top list.
Italy, Monaco and Switzerland are definitely my top three European countries to explore to. Interestingly, the romantic France never made it to the top list until this possible "mindful enlightenment" opportunity.
We often found new things on this block after coffee break. This time, it was not the controversial gallery, but a Limited Time Only restaurant.
In life, time is all we have and it is limited.
April: changing weather; change for the better
April marked a full year I had spent in New York (360 out of 365 days). To me, it was meaningful because I have been living on-and-off here for so many years but this is the first time I had experienced the four seasons of my beloved city. Even better I survived the bitter cold winter here.
Easter, not easier. this outbound was worse than I had thought. If they believed me in the first place, then it would have been much better.
my bottle is now emptied out for the better... soups!!!
I don't eat much, but I love soups. Just too lazy to make them before.
My soup-making activity delighted my mom & pop.
Soon enough, I will be chopping avocados for guacamole as summer snack ^6^
Professionalism shined on this perfect weekend!
Attending a conference with my colleagues was much fun on Saturday.
Attending two plays on Sunday lit up May.
Actors put themselves into fictitious characters and act on them required much dedication.
At the end of the day, they are still who they are. That's professionalism.
