not a long weAkend

"Friends are meant to be troubled"

"bothering friends with sincerity more" became one of my NYRs.

Now, I think I may have been too social...

cultivating deeper relationships is what I ultimately want though...

Meanwhile, did this eventful Saturday hurt my voice?
visited 2 老虎女 baby tigers at different gatherings, then E/J karaoke...
nah... it was the pseudo-spring moments plus high heat temp.

still having nightmares & severe headache...
still cannot fall asleep tonight...
plus this voice...
ugh~
overdose herbal cough drops

stress
no matter how much...
smile
is the universal happy drug

It's time to find 老頭子 and visit the cats...

Lantern Festival

元宵節

Looking up at the Empire State Building in triple white lights, I recalled the beautiful one in red, pink & white on Valentine's Day and the mesmerizing one in purple, purple & yellow two days ago.

The decoration of guys' car often indicates a change of their relationship status. Some of them have become a bit too "girly," especially after Valentine's Day. haha. I guess this signifies a "territory."

Well... I almost forget about today. Not only did I not hang any lantern, I did not have any sticky riceballs in sweet soup either. In fact, I got a fancy card from my college. Not related matters, but nice.

Social weekend

Friday night spent at Vapiano

Saturday, gladly attended a housewarming/ Chinese New Year gathering, but no karaoke for me as I needed to save energy for the double combo of Chinese New Year's dim sum brunch and my first time ever Super Bowl on the following day.

After several unsuccessful attempts, things remained on the desk. (>,<)* I soon realized a number of people had called "sick" on this post Super Bowl Monday.

For some unknown reasons, I have become a "Claire Bear" at our toasty winter banquet. Thanks V.

A familiar seductive melody came to me when I was on my way home. The Red River Valley I learned from elementary school~

Today, tea cups everywhere...
Signs of high caffeine consumption... typos... and funny feeling~

Super social holidays is now over. Back to the mode.

The sky was clear tonight. in deep sea blue.

I counted... at least 20 of them. Do you know what to call the 3 stars that line up straight?
what a beautiful night!

Hours later, I am still awake.
so... randomness it is~~~

Guess which one is my favorite @ORO?

random dessert on the house @Hoomoos (too sweet for me though)

A proud Toasty moment

I used to think I was good at multitasking. Today, I have to admit that I am not. In fact, I only have one heart and one mind. I'd rather be focus on one thing at a time.

A supposedly 8-week-planned big contest night fell on me roughly 10 days ago. I took it without thinking too much because I believed it was a manageable challenge and why not?

In the past 10 days, my mind was not about the coldness or the snow, but the contest night. I never fully organized any event, but coordinated on a side. This time, I was the Contest Chair. I dedicated myself to this role, spending my Saturday night on writing educational e-mails to my dear Toasties.

It was like an intensive 10-day project. Today, the show was on. Everything was uncertain at first but turned out great without a single issue. It was a big success. Most importantly, it would not have been so successful without the cooperation of the Toasties.
(Before today, I rarely put names on my blog, but I have to express my appreciation to everyone of you.)

Thanks Vidya for giving me this opportunity to push myself to go beyond my limit.
Thanks Marie for taking care of the Judges team in an organized fashion.
Thanks Adam for having faith, confidence on us and helping us along the road.
Thanks Liza & Jen for giving good advice in various ways to guide me through the role.
Thanks Sophii, Jonathan, Steven F, Steven S, James, Jim, Jesse, and Irina for making possible for the success of the event
Thanks Jeffrey, Melissa, Teresa, Marina, Cecelia, Kadisha and Shu Chin for keeping the event fair and square.
Thanks Jason, Derek, Art, Swathi, Rafay, and Bindu for your excellent speech delivery.
Special thanks (Khalil), Lance, Mitsuko and Afi for your mutual support.
Guests, thanks for joining us at our annual special event.

Congratulations to our very best competent speakers Jen and Rafay!!!

What a fantastic moment that we all shared!
I was exhausted yet fulfilled and satisfied. I felt like an alchemist who turned dust into a masterpiece.

Sometimes, I think I should stop and look for someone's shoulder to lean on, but most of the time, I wish this person can see me grow and share my joy from everything I experience in life.
I love making things diverse and "international"~My old friend often encouraged me by saying, "I know you can do it. Don't be too Oriental." I am glad to be one of the Toasties =p

If there is a thing called monthly challenge, then I had one for January. When I wake up in the morning, there is another one waiting for me.
In fact, if someone offers me 10-day projects, I think I would love to take more of it.

Stayin indoor Thinkin outdoor

Last week, New York was pretty snowy. Some funny puff-balls like snowflakes kept falling on Monday morning, then the third snow blizzard came to town. For those who love winter sports, especially skiing or snowboarding, this is the time. For me, nothing beats eating ice cream by the heat. ^,^

Recently saw the Japanese movie "Fireworks from the Heart"
The story line of this movie goes like other Japanese movies, such as A Litre of Tears, or Taiyo no Uta. A typical lively teenage girl named Hana who has Leukemia and eventually died from it. She returned to home and found out her brother, Taro, had become a social recluse, her encouraged him to open up. In Japanese culture, youngsters became adults when they are at age 20. Taro is turning 20 next year and Hana wants him to be participating in the fireworks parade ceremony with his peers. Indeed, Taro has changed to be more social because of Hana. Her positive attitude, cheerful behavior had a positive impact on Taro's life...

Based on a true story, this story emphasized human relationships and illustrated the meaning of having fireworks festival as a cultural tradition in this part of Niigata.
I like the music and the thoughtful settings. As for the characters, I didn't see much outstanding acting from main characters, but I like to see the uptight father opens up. =D

I miss Niigata.

When I was young and innocent, I had a memorable experience in South Africa.

I realized I never posted this Photo Album on FB.
