Small world

世界真細小

Yesterday, one of my co-workers told me that she saw one of her relatives was having an affair at a subway station. Her relative is married and has a 12-year old daughter. When that happened, they both saw each other, but the relative felt embarrassed and turned around. My co-worker was so furious about this. The world is so small.

Today, I was on my way home after shopping at a Japanese supermarket in Soho. When I was on Broadway, a man ran into me. He was the new young history professor of my college. I was enrolled in two of his classes last year. I know he lives in NYC, but it's freaky to find out that your professor is living only few blocks away from where I live. Oh my gosh! The world is so small.

Oh...he asked me if there were many Muslims living in Malaysia.

Labour day without labouring yourself

I will have 5-day off this weekend, where should I go?

How about hiking? hmm... I wish there was a hill in the middle of the Central Park.

or can we dive in a lake?

How about U.S. Open?

Casino?

Wanna join me to go to an amusement park?

This is out of the blue, but I am thinking of the "Hou Hou Shu" sparkling sake... hah!

A lesson from a Japanese drama

I just finished watching a Japanese drama プロポーズ大作戦. The story is about a guy who grew up with his childhood friend whom is getting married to another man. On her wedding day, this guy realized how much he loves this girl. A male fairy appears at the wedding banquet during the sideshow. The fairy gives him chances to return to "redo" his past. In each episode, he returns to the past by saying "Hallelujah chance" with a weird gesture. He will come back when the same picture is taken though detail changed.

In reality, we only live once. We do not get second chance to express feeling to those who we really care about.

既然遇上,自是有緣,請好好珍惜。

Bayside

I usually take subway to Flushing, but I decided to take Long Island Rail Road to Bayside. Perhaps today is not a good day for me to explore outside NYC. The LIRR had a technical problem, so it returned to Penn Station after running for like 10 minutes. I arrived but did not feel used to this quiet residential area. Just different from the way I grew up. Soon enough, I was so distracted by a 7-11 store, and I took a wrong turn... so... I was lost for a moment. hah. I was actually looking for something interesting but did not find any. I spent nearly 2.5 hours to get to my destination where I stayed for half an hour. With another 1.5 hours on my return, I spent nearly 4-hour on commuting today.

Commuters, I admire you.

Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

Starting from summer, hot air balloon season comes. Various kinds of hot air balloon festivals are to be held internationally. Last year, I was fortunate enough to have a hot air balloon ride in Vermont. Although it was not part of any great balloon festivals, and the ride was not as good as expected due to poor weather, it was a fun experience.

Here are some pictures:

I look small! hah!

We arrived at someone's backyard.

由於近日遇到不少壓力,所以很累,網誌也少了更新,但我仍想做到報喜不報憂
! 希望您們會支持我! ^.^*

A Life of Indulgence: appreciation of food

Did you go to some great restaurants over the Summer Restaurant Week? Although the event was over two weeks ago, my friends and I never stop looking for great restaurants.

Tonight, we went to Kyotofu, a small Japanese café that mainly serves dessert. If you have not been to this place, you may not realize it for its missing signage. I am not going to advertise this restaurant, but good restaurants usually don’t have one, hah! Hmm...this place is good for girl talks <3

Oh, anyone is interested in having an extravagant meal at the Ninja Restaurant?

Coney Island

Amusement Parks

My friends and I went to NYC's landmark attractions, namely Deno's Wonder Wheel Amusement Park and Astorland Amusement Park, in Coney Island yesterday.

We arrived around noon. Our first impression of the Deno's Wonder Wheel amusement park was old and small. We got into a swinging wheel cage and drove bumper cars. Before moving onto the Astorland, we ordered a snack for lunch. The funnel cake was awesome!!!

We were approaching to our destination--the Astorland Cyclone roller coaster. There was a line of exciting "passengers." When we were waiting, we noticed a sign saying "Ride Again $4.00." It was a good deal since the first ride costs $6.00 and you got to pick the best seat for your second ride. When it comes to our turn, we got to sit in the front. The first time in my life to sit in the front row of a roller coaster! Awesome!!!

The ride was great. My body was not touching the seat most of the time. I should say, it was out of control, but fun! After we got of the ride, the guy who was in the bag storage section said if we wanted to ride again, he would give us a personal deal for $3.00. It was tempting, but I did not do it. Well... maybe I should have accepted the deal. haha. Anyway, the picture of us taken on the ride marked our special first-time-SCREAM! haha.

One of my friends and I had a pirate ride after this. Since there were only five people on the boat, the ride was pretty quite though we kept our hands up most of the time. haha.

It was time to spend some time on the beach. Sunshire, I like sunshire (though it was 92 degree)! Hours later, we had an afternoon tea at 「港飲港食」, a new Hong Kong style tea cafe in Chinatown and a dinner at Lombardi's Restaurant. After a lovely chat, we had a nice walk.

China: "We Are Ready" for the Beijing Olympics 2008

Entitled "We Are Ready," a theme song that marked one year countdown ceremony was presented to public today. The song was co-recorded by 130 singers from mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan. You can easily find it on youtube. The Chinese say they are ready, are they really? Many experts express doubts due to China's political stand and its smog weather. I am waiting to see some magic...

"Celebrity Jeopardy!"

At dinner, I was watching Jeopardy, the "Celebrity Jeopardy!" special. There were two men and a woman on the stage, but I couldn't read their names on the screen. Surprisingly, I recognized the voice of the woman. She was Soledad O'Brien, a CNN anchor, who gave a speech in my school where I was required to attend for one of my classes. Her professionalism left me a positive impression, so I was so excited to see her at the show. She was doing pretty well until the end of the game. Apparently she was not very good at geography.

"Failure of Infrastructure" again?

The stream pipe explored no more more a month ago, a bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, MN collapsed. Is that awful luck, or simply lack of "remodeling" historical American infrastructure?
