I seldom encountered with flying issues probably because I always prefer to take early and direct flights, but today was just such a bad day.
The first flight I flew on got mechanical problems and thus delayed. It caused me to miss my connecting flight. I was shocked to find out the next available flight would be in 4 hours. I looked around at the airport, the rush hour had just passed, only few passengers were hanging there. It was very cold at the airport, same as the cabin... Very cold.
I found this old woman who was sitting next to me while waiting for the first flight at the airport. Before boarding, we were having a brief conversation since we were going to the same destination. We got separated on the plane since her seat was pretty near to the front while mine was on the 2nd last row of the flight. I have always tried to avoid such seating since the engine would give me a headache. Indeed, I failed to sleep or do anything even if I had gotten my pill and plugs ready. Cold too.
At the waiting area of this airport, she told me that there was an empty seat next to her on that flight. If I knew it, I would have moved to sit there. She also told me that she received a $13 dinner voucher to compensate her missing connecting flight. I only I got a $5 meal voucher, so I had to negotiate with the staff about this an unfair arrangement... problem solved. Got a free dinner. but still, cold.
We talked through the 4-hour extra layover time. I enjoyed most when she told me her adventure to Macau and Hong Kong in the 1970s.
After mid-night, I finally got home exhausted.
Waking up early, I had another long cold day (Perhaps I should run a go-green-no-a/c campaign).
Cold. Sick. Cold. Sleep.
