November 3rd

I signed up for a pastry course more than a month ago at Cha-An. They called me up to confirm over the weekend, letting me know that I would be the only non-Japanese in the course, which would be taught in Japanese. I knew it might be awkward, but it's not like the first time I've been to places or situation like that. So there I was, standing in a kitchen with ten Japanese students and one ABC. The majority of students seemed to be a bit older, and Chef Sato assigned me to be in a group with three younger girls (one got a call from office, so she left early). We made chestnuts tarts, though they looked more like huge macaroons to me.
